Deodorants are recalled due to cancer risks. We have been following the recalls recently involving , shampoos, 44 different hand sanitizers, 78 sunscreen products , and especially the 41 different deodorants since we carry a signature line of natural crystal deodorant mist sprays at 👉https://www.naturallivingbydesign.com/natural-deodorant. To bring those up to date who are not aware of the deodorant recalls. In November 2021, it became public knowledge a company called Valisure tested and detected high levels of the carcinogen benzene, in popular brands of deodorant and antiperspirant sprays. Over 30 different brands have been tagged as being potentially dangerous after a citizen's petition was filed with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 2021. According to CNN, Valisure reported that over half of the 108 batches of deodorant body sprays and antiperspirants tested and the carcinogen benzene was found.
What is benzene?
Benzene is a colorless or light yellow liquid at room temperature that evaporates quickly into the air. Benzene is a potentially dangerous chemical. It is known to cause cancer based from studies in both animals and people. High levels of exposure of benzene in the air can cause serious health risks including death, orally and through the skin it can result in cancers including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow and blood disorders.
What brands have been recalled?
P&G aka Proctor & Gamble voluntarily announced a recall of 18 versions of Old Spice and Secret deodorant. with expiry through September 2023. The most highly contaminated were two lots of Old Spice antiperspirant called Pure Sport. The recalled products were distributed nationwide in the US through online and retail outlets.
Procter & Gamble has notified the retailers to remove the products from shelves. Secret and Old Spice is trying to make this right by offering reimbursement for consumers who have purchased the products impacted by this recall. We recommend that consumers stop using and appropriately discard the affected aerosol spray products.
